In order to lose weight, you must take in fewer calories or expend more calories than you take in.
In order to increase muscle, you need an excess of calories... Hmmm? Just for thought!
Two major reasons why you may have difficulty keeping weight off.
1. With Calorie Resitriced Diets - a good portion of your weight loss is muscle mass. A loss in muscle mass decreases your resting metabolic rate.
When you are on a weight loss program you must stay with a program that maintains and if you can increase muscle mass.
2. Most weight loss programs focus on low carb diets. When you go low carb you lose a significant amount of water weight because the glucose molecule that makes up carbohydrates are stored in water. For every one gram of Charbohrdrate (stored in the body as Glycogen) there is approx 2 -3 grams of water retained.
The key to sustainable weight loss...
#1 participate in a fitness program that builds muscle and increases mitochondrial (fat burning cells)
The Real World Benefits to strengthening your “Core”
Every-day motions are created by the ripple effect of muscles connecting your upper and lower body. These motions originate in what is known as your “core” muscles.
Core muscles are located deep within your trunk, extending from the base of your head to your pelvis some cross and attach to your lower extremity.
Strong, stable core muscles are essential to coordinate bodily movement. Many programs focus on just the infamous six pack muscles, however, this means more of a chance for injuries.
